This game is a bit of a Ronseal build a base on a planet. In this case it was more fruitful than normal as I was gifted with a base building, space faring, colony controlling dome fest that is Planetbase. Like a magician's rabbit, the first out of the hat was Planetbase from Madruga Works.ĭue to a prolonged absence I have a stockpile of games to play and this has left me with the first worldly-est problem ever, which one should I play first?! Perhaps if you initially replaced the Control Center and left storage with an airlock and flipped the factory and the processing plant so you could build the processing plant first and have it connected to the canteen and sever that connection when you replace the left airlock with storage. I'm trying to think of a way that you could build into this design from the beginning. A large lab with only one connection can accommodate 9 meat synthesizers and two lab tables, which I find roughly matches the output of a large greenhouse. I'd probably cut the connection to the greenhouse and the canteen. I've found that the utility of the lab is dictated by the amount of wall space available to it. It might mess with the pathing of the colonists, but I think the morale boost would be worth it.

I'd put one of the cabins off the O2 generator replacing the dorm and the other two cabins off the factory and multi-room locations below the hospital. I'd probably replace it with a bar, which my settlers use quite frequently.Īlso, I'd probably get rid of one of the dorms (which sleeps 18 max) and replace it with 3 cabins (which sleep 5 each), since cabins help restore both fatigue and morale.

I'm not sure about the Xbox version, but the people in the PC version don't seem to even use the multi-dome, other than the drinking fountains. From what I've gathered over the past couple of days, the only thing I might tweak for my own uses are the sleeping quarters and multi-dome. I just got into the game and found this sub, which is why I'm late to the thread. The entire layout can be mirrored on the East Storage, creating a complete copy on the other side of it, doubling the production and capacity of your base, starting with a second Control Center (mostly just to keep intruders from getting past the entrance), followed by a second Oxygen-Canteen-etc. Option to build a second entrance to the North of the East Storage. To the East, a dedicated entrance for trading and visitors, with Control between that Storage and the rest of the base to stop intruders.

Off of the Oxygen, you can place more Dorms, a Bar, or a Multi-Dome as needed. Provides a production line for medicines from BioDome-Lab-(Canteen)-SickBay with only 1 wasted space. Past the Robotics is a second Airlock which would lead to all exterior utilities, giving bots easy access to them for maintenance.ĭorm and Sick Bay off the Canteen which does 2 things.Īllows colonists to meet all of their needs off of one building (food, water, sleep, entertainment, medicine).

And after enjoying several hours of play, with a lot of dying, trial and error, I've come up with what I believe is a near perfect base layout, provided it fits on your planet. Just discovered this game with the Xbox port.
